Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of joining Aybil, Tom Kimmel, Common Good Concerts, and David Weatherspoon for a bit of community and fund-raising.

Here's oldie "Tell Me Something I Don't Know," with an intro I haven't given before. At Tom Petty's School of Socially-Conscious Songwriting, the personal is political.

"American Girl" begins "She was an American girl, raised on promises." It ends "God it's so painful, when something that's so close is still so far out of reach." For me, that says more than a 10-verse polemic about factories.

Is "American Girl" a political song? Is "Tell Me Something I Don't Know"?
